چکیده

in this study we investigate voice productions of normal speakers and patients with varying vocal fold adduction deficiencies using a noninvasive method to measure spatial vibrations of the larynx. the current version accv4 of our acceleration sensor device was used. The study’s primary goal is to find out whether lesions of vocal folds lead to additional spatial vibration modes compared to a non-disordered voice. our results allow to assume that the composition of spatial vibration modes at the skin over the cricothyroid ligament may depend on the symmetry of vocal fold movements.

Voice Recovery in a Patient with Inhaled Laryngeal Burns

Introduction: Laryngeal burns cause long-term voice disorders due to mucosal changes of the vocal folds. Inhalation injuries affect voice production and result in changes in the mucosal thickness and voice quality.   Case Report: A 47-year-old woman was transferred to our department with laryngeal burns sustained during a house fire. On laryngoscopic examination, mucosal waves of both vocal fol...

Effects of Rheumatoid Arthritis on the Larynx

Introduction: The aim of the present study was to compare the videolaryngostroboscopic findings between patients with rheumatoid arthritis and vocally healthy controls.   Materials and Methods: This case-control descriptive study was performed on 113 people, including 50 patients with rheumatoid arthritis and 63 controls. The participants were subjected to videolaryngost...

Subglottal pressure and fundamental frequency control in contact calls of juvenile Alligator mississippiensis

Vocalization is rare among non-avian reptiles, with the exception of the crocodilians, the sister taxon of birds. Crocodilians have a complex vocal repertoire. Their vocal and respiratory system is not well understood but appears to consist of a combination of features that are also found in the extremely vocal avian and mammalian taxa. Anatomical studies suggest that the alligator larynx is ab...

Control of Vocal Fold Cover Stiffness by Laryngeal Muscles

Objectives: The objective of this study is to perform preliminary measurements of the shear modulus of the vocal fold cover layer during intrinsic laryngeal muscle contraction. Study Design: Shear modulus was measured in an ex vivo human larynx and an in vivo canine larynx. Methods: A modified linear skin rheometer adapted for laryngeal viscoelasticity measurement applied shear stress to the mi...

Bifurcations and chaos in register transitions of excised larynx experiments.

Experimental data from an excised larynx are analyzed in the light of nonlinear dynamics. The excised larynx provides an experimental framework that enables artificial control and direct observation of the vocal fold vibrations. Of particular interest in this experiment is the coexistence of two distinct vibration patterns, which closely resemble chest and falsetto registers of the human voice....
